I like mine with a lump of crumbly cheese (a suggestion I got from the All Creatures Great and Small And I get it. I know the jokes about fruitcake. I might have another convert on my hands! But if you use dates, I don’t recommend simmering them in the orange juice. I usually make 12 muffins and make fruitcake with the remaining batter.)
- Book Review: Magic Casements by Pamela Sherwood
This is a solid group of stories overall, but I did have favorites, including “The Knight of the Gillyflower I also loved “The Magic Stove,” because it’s told from the point of view of the stove, and I love that I didn’t love every story, of course, because that’s the nature of such collections. And, while there are stories I didn’t love, there isn’t a true dud in the collection. I will definitely be on the lookout for other work by Sherwood.
