Fairy Tale Style: Bedroom Makeover Ideas, By Amanda Bergloff

We here at Enchanted Conversation love all things fairy tale, which also includes incorporating a little fairy tale style into everyday life- and with spring just around the corner, we’ve turned our thoughts to refreshing a bedroom with some fairy tale inspired decor.

What is "Fairy Tale Decor?"

To us, it's part glam...part natural elements...part shabby chic...part upcycling...and quite honestly, anything that gives you a magical feeling.

And it doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing, floor to ceiling re-fresh. Fairy Tale Decor can be achieved by simply adding one beautiful handcrafted piece from a craft fair, or an ornately framed mirror that looks like you could step through it into the fairy realm, or hanging twinkle lights over your headboard. Of course, you can go floor to ceiling with a more dramatic makeover, because to us, Fairy Tale Decor is very budget friendly with many do-it-yourself ideas that any skill level can achieve.

We’ve gathered some thoughts and pictures below to inspire you to add a little fairy magic to your room and life! And please share any of your own decor ideas and thoughts in the COMMENTS section below. We’d love to hear from you!

Hanging fabric around a headboard, along with a predominately light color palette for walls and furnishings is a simple way to give a room an airy, magical feeling.

Natural elements can really help give that fairy tale/magical vibe by adding real branches either to the wall or bedposts themselves. Add lights for an even more ethereal feel.
Greenery or dried florals are also natural elements that add fairy tale beauty throughout the room.

Adding color with delicate or bold floral prints through fabrics, or on the wall with wallpaper or a painted mural, brings a fairy tale vibe to your room.

Combining gorgeous chandelier lighting with rustic furniture elements add fairy tale drama to the space.
A mini flea market chandelier find, placed inside a rustic birdcage makes a charming free standing light for any fairy tale room.
And don't forget about lighting! From a single strand of white lights to a cascade of fairy lights, it's this magical glow that makes fairy tale decor its most magical.

For an alternative to string lights, try adding the true magic of a cloud light.

And finally, set the mood before even entering your fairy tale styled bedroom by decorating your door with a distressed paint finish and adding "Once Upon a Time" or "Living Happily Ever After."
HAPPY DECORATING TO ALL!
