Fairy Tale Illustrations

Sometimes, it just seems like a day for posting some fairy tale art, just for enjoyment. I found the first one at an extraordinarily gorgeous blog called A Polar Bear's Blog, which I am now following.

Here you go, and thanks to A Polar Bear's Blog.

"The Twelve Dancing Princesses," by Katherine Cameron

The rest are from the Pinterest board "Fairy Tale Faction." There are many gorgeous illustrations and interesting bloggers and pinners to follow there, so check it out.

"Little Red Riding Hood," by Edward Gorey
"Brother and Sister,' by Carl Offterdinger
"Rumpelstiltskin?" Artist unknown
"Snow White and Rose Red," by Brunhild Schlotter
"The Sleeping Beauty," by Arthur Rackham
Cover of the original "Orange Fairy Tale Book," written by Andrew Lang

  1. The unknown is Snow White and Rose Red by Arthur Rackham. See http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/illustrations/rosered/rackhamsnowred.html

  2. Gorgeous! Arthur Rackham and Edward Gorey are among my favorite artists. That Little Red is terrific:)

  3. Love those illustrations! I'm taking a course right now on illustrating picture books and it's making me look at all illustrations in a whole new light. :)

I wish I owned the original copy of Lang's book...it's gorgeous!

  4. I love the Gorey illustration but I cannot figure out HOW the wolf would keep his balance like that!

  5. I love them all. I think my favorite is the one from "Brother and Sister" which is a great fairy tale. They make me want to sit and read fairy tales all day long.
